Great waters flooded the beloved island. It became dangerous
High water can make life miserable not only in the southern part of Poland, but now Majorca is facing it. Part of the island was flooded. Up to 120 liters of rain fell per square meter.
We have experienced first-hand how terrible the effects of floods can be – more than once. Now a difficult situation prevails on the Spanish island, very popular among tourists. Heavy rains hit Majorca on the morning of October 28. It’s the worst in a few specific areas.

The commune of Manacor, i.e. the central and charming part of the island, was most affected by the flood. Now he doesn’t look as good as usual. We will see water and gray colors everywhere. Normally, tourists come there, among others: to visit the museum of tennis star Rafael Nadal and his tennis school. Other attractions include the Majorica pearl factory and the Cuevas del Drach caves in Porto Cristo. When it comes to beaches, Cales de Mallorca, Cala Romantica, Cala Morlanda and Sa Coma dominate. What about these places now?
It is known that after the Torrent de Llebrona River burst its banks, the aforementioned cave town, Porto Cristo, was under water. It is difficult to obtain detailed information whether any of the other areas were also destroyed.
The rainfall was very intense, with more than 120 liters of rain per square meter falling in Manacor, according to the national meteorological agency (AEMET). There was a violent storm.
The effects of flooding on the largest island of the Balearic Islands
Photos and videos illustrating the difficult situation in Majorca can be seen on social media. For example, on the X platform, they were shared by the local fire brigade Bombers de Mallorca and the meteorological agency AEMET. You can see that entire streets are flooded. There are cars parked in the water, and it is difficult to safely enter many buildings.
One of the difficulties reported by firefighters was that the vehicle blocked the road between Campos and Colònia de Sant Jordi, creating a water barrier at the Rafa Nadal Academy. On Monday, rescue services intervened about 400 times across the island. Ten roads had to be closed.
According to information provided by AEMET, the downpours are probably not over yet. “Very heavy rainfall, even heavy rain, may occur in the eastern and southern parts of the peninsula in the afternoon on Monday and Tuesday,” it was reported via X. It was also reported that the rain front would head over the southern and eastern regions of the Iberian Peninsula. Further destruction and flooding are possible.
