Great news for Natalia Kaczmarek straight from Paris! The Pole is a great hope for a medal
Natalia Kaczmarek is one of the favorites to win a medal at the Olympic Games in Paris. Very positive news has just arrived from the capital of France.
This is about the list of women’s 400 meters semi-finals and who exactly the extremely talented Polish athlete will be competing against. Natalia Kaczmarek has been included in a group (the entire list is on the official website of the 2024 Olympics) that is not the strongest possible. And this is a good sign in the context of the fight for a place in the Olympic final.
Paris 2024: When will Natalia Kaczmarek run in the 400m semi-finals?
Kaczmarek will run in the last, third of Wednesday’s (i.e. August 7) semi-finals. The start of the race is planned for 21:01. Among the most dangerous rivals are Sada Williams from Barbados (number 5 on the world lists) and the British Amber Anning (16). The Pole is currently number 2 in the world.
Kaczmarek avoided the Dominican Marileida Paulino (1), American Alexis Holmes (7), and Jamaican Nickisha Pryce (9) in the semi-finals – all three are running in the second semi-final. In the first, however, the following are in the line-up: Irish Rhasidat Adeleke (3), Dutch Like Klaver (4), and Bahraini Salwa Eid Naser (13). The two best athletes and the two with the best times from all the semi-final races will advance directly to the final.
It is worth recalling that Kaczmarek has two Olympic medals from the Tokyo Games (2021). At that time, however, the Pole reached for the medals from the relay competition. Kaczmarek was the Olympic champion in the mixed and vice-champion in the women’s team – in both cases in the 4×400 m distance. In Paris, the Pole focused strongly on individual competition, giving up, among others, the gold in the mixed relay.
The Polish Olympic team wins four medals in Paris
So far, Poland has four Olympic medals from the competition in the capital of France. The first to win the Olympic vice-championship was Klaudia Zwolińska, a whitewater kayaker. The bronze medal was then added by the Polish epee fencers, who snatched the team success by winning the match for 3rd place against the Chinese after a great fight.
The men responded to the women’s successes. The bronze medal was won by rowers, the Polish doubles team consisting of Dominik Czaja, Fabian Barański, Mirosław Ziętarski and Mateusz Biskup. On Friday, August 2, Iga Świątek added a bronze medal. She was the first in the history of the Polish Olympic movement to win an Olympic medal in tennis.
Poland also has a “virtual” medal, not yet included in the official record, but already certain – looking at the competition. We are talking about the success of boxer Julia Szeremeta. The Polish athlete found herself in the best four in the 57 kg category. And since there are no fights for bronze in boxing, the Polish competitor can already enjoy a place on the podium at the 2024 Olympics.
It is worth recalling that at the last summer games (Tokyo 2021), Poland won a total of 14 Olympic medals. This achievement consisted of: four gold, five silver and five bronze.
