Decisive matches of PlusLiga 2025/2026
For now, what is certain is that Norwid Częstochowa will say goodbye to PlusLigawho won only 4 games this season and scored only 17 points.
At the opposite extreme is Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie. The “Jurassic Knights” were sure of first place in the table even before the start of the 24th round of the regular phase.
For Michał Winiarski, this is a historic success because he is the first Polish coach in a decade to achieve this. And this is at a time when the schedule of domestic competitions is heavily overloaded and there are also matches in foreign cups, including: Champions League, where all Polish teams reached the quarterfinals.
This, however, does not mean that the Zawiercie team can be sure of their final triumph. There are many candidates for medals and the 2025/2026 season in PlusLiga was full of so many surprises and surprising twists that anything can happen. Many teams showed a very high level already in the regular phase, and the point differences at the top of the table were small. This makes the upcoming play-offs extremely exciting and difficult to predict.
According to the regulations, the eight best teams from the main league will advance to the next stage of the competition. The competition will be held in a system where the first place team plays the 8th place team, 2nd place against 7th place, etc. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played to two victories, while in the medal matches teams will need three victories.
PlusLiga 2025/2026. Who will count in the fight for medals?
A dangerous rival for “Jurassic Knights” the runner-up in the table – PGE Projekt Warszawa – will certainly be present. After turmoil related to the change of coach and health problems of a key player, center Jakub Kochanowski, the capital team finally got back on track.
The Warsaw team caused a sensation in the Champions League by defeating the favored Itas Trentino in excellent style. A few days later, they defeated PGE Skra Bełchatów 3-0. The young attacker Bartosz Gomułka is doing great and is a worthy replacement for Linus Weber, whose form has fluctuated greatly this season.
Bogdanka LUK Lublin will certainly want to defend the title of Polish Champion. Stephane Antiga’s players also had huge health problems this season. Injuries excluded Kewin Sasak and Mateusz Malinowski from the game. This situation forced the coach to strongly rotate his squad due to the regulations regarding the number of foreigners on the court.
Currently, it seems that Lublin’s worst moments are behind them, although Wilfredo Leon was missing on the pitch in the last match against Warta Zawiercie. As it turned out, the receiver was struggling with a minor hand injury, specifically the metacarpal. However, both the player and the staff assure that it is nothing serious.
AZS Olsztyn will certainly count in the fight for medalsa huge surprise of this season. Experienced players play an important role in the team, including: attacker Jan Hadrava or receiver Moritz Karlitzek. Their good disposition often determined victories in key moments.
Asseco Resovia also has an appetite for medals, in which Artur Szalpuk, Marcin Janusz and Karol Butryn perform excellently. The team from Podkarpacie had its bad moments (including defeats against Trefl Gdańsk and ZAKSA), but has been in solid shape for the vast majority of the season. The team’s strength is primarily the power of attack from the right wing and stable play.
