Google introduces a new feature. Gmail users have been waiting for it for years
Many of you have probably wondered about changing the name of your e-mail address. Google has just made this option available to Gmail users.
Most e-mail users set up their addresses when they were young, often without thinking about the future and creating names that, even as adults, might seem inappropriate to their age and situation, e.g. in the context of work.
For years, there was no such option to edit the address, but nothing is impossible for Google engineers. The company has just released a new feature that allows you to change the name of your Gmail account.

The solution proposed by Google allows you to change the username of an address ending in “@gmail”. As a result, instead of creating a new mailbox, Gmail users keep their existing accounts and related services or applications.
Although the original mailbox name does not completely disappear, the new address will be displayed as the main address. All data, such as email history, remain unchanged.
How to change the name of a Gmail address? Step by step
The procedure to change the main name of your Gmail account is not complicated. Everything is done in the Google accounts settings panel and can be set either from the mobile application or browser view.
What really needs to be done requires several steps. First, we go to the Google account settings. Then go to the Personal Information section. In the next step, we choose the option to change the Gmail address and edit our account name.
It is worth emphasizing here that editing the Gmail account name is not a process that we can carry out at our own discretion. Google notes that this feature can be used once a year.
When you change your Gmail address to a new one, your original account name is not deleted, but Google saves it as a second, additional active address. As a result, users do not have to lose access to the contents of their mailboxes or waste time logging in again.
Thus, Gmail users can use both addresses, maintaining full functionality of the account and do not have to worry about the risk of losing important data, such as the list of contacts saved in the mailbox.
When will Google introduce the new feature to Poland?
For now, the feature has been made available to American Gmail users. It was in the USA that the testing phase of the new solution was carried out and it turned out to be positive. However, there is good news for Gmail users in the rest of the world. Google announced that the service will soon be available in other markets, and the implementation process has already started.
For now, there is no information when the solution will be available in Poland. However, it should be taken into account that Poland is an important market for the American giant. Therefore, you can count on Polish Gmail users to quickly gain access to the new service.
