Gold breaks records. After the FED decision and Powell’s speech, the price exceeded $ 3050 per ounce. Investors moved for safe assets.
On Thursday morning, the price of gold reached a record level of $ 3057 per ounce, which at the current exchange rate corresponds to about PLN 11,900. In the following hours, the quotations have slightly decreased, stabilizing at around $ 3040. However, this is still one of the highest results in history.
Favorable occurrence
The Reuters agency emphasizes that a sharp increase in gold prices took place after the Wednesday conference of the chairman of the US Federal Reserve Jerome Powell. The speech of the head of the Fed was considered extremely beneficial for markets, and his tons had a positive effect not only on gold, but also on the records of shares and bonds.
– Gold reaches another historic peak after a truly virtuoso speech by chairman Powell – said Tai Wong, an expert of a metal market, quoted by the agency. He added that the current market situation indicates the ongoing Hossa Gold, and the quotations may continue to grow, especially in the context of persistent uncertainty and inflationary fears.
Only from the beginning of 2025 the price of gold increased by over 15 percent, which indicates the growing interest of investors in this ore as a safe marinade in times of economic uncertainty. “Investors think: buy gold no matter what,” Wong noted.
Maintenance of percentage rates
The reason for optimism in the markets was the FED decision to maintain interest rates at the current level of 4.25–4.5 percent. What’s more, Jerome Powell confirmed the forecasts regarding further foot reductions this year and indicated that the American economy remains strong. He also noted that the possible impact of duties on inflation will be short -lived.
After the Fed conference, the American stock indexes also recorded increases: Dow Jones gained 0.92 percent, S&P 500 increased by 1.08 percent, and Nasdaq by as much as 1.41 percent.
