Gigantic stakes in Iga Świątek’s match! Polish fans will not be happy
Iga Świątek vs. Jelena Rybakina. A match that doesn’t even need to be advertised especially, considering the participants of this match. We already know the exact date!
Just yesterday (i.e. August 19), Iga Świątek was happy with another, ninth win in a row. This time the Pole turned out to be better than the French Diane Parry. Her opponent didn’t have much to say in the fourth round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati.
There is not much time to rest, however, because the quarterfinals are already on the horizon. And it features an absolutely blockbuster match – a repeat of the recent WTA 1000 final in Toronto. A few days ago on Canadian courts, Świątek was better than Jelena Rybakina.
What will it be like in American conditions?
WTA 1000 Cincinnati: Iga Świątek – Jelena Rybakina. Gigantic hit rate!
Polish fans will find out the answer to this question… during the deep night from Thursday to Friday. That’s when the fight between the Polish woman and the Kazakh woman was scheduled. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. local time, i.e. 1:00 a.m. looking at Polish watches.
However, Friday’s (i.e. August 21) emotions promise to be great.
Apart from the prestige of the tournament in Cincinnati, both tennis players have something to gain. Looking from Świątek’s perspective, the Pole is defending 1,000 points gained in the 2025 season. Therefore, if the Pole fails to repeat the success of winning the tournament, she will lose a lot of points and will land at least in ninth place in the WTA ranking.
And it may be even worse, because their immediate ranking neighbors are still in the game, so there is even a risk of Świątek falling out of the top ten in the world ranking.
The other side of the coin is a great opportunity for Rybakina, who, if successful and then adds another win in the semi-finals, may become the leader of the WTA rankings. As you can see, this will be a match with really high stakes.
Where can you watch the Świątek-Rybakina match? The match of the entire WTA tour is available on Canal+ Sport. You can use the Internet, for example, the Canal+ Online platform.
