Gigantic severance pay for employees. Up to 400 thousand zloty

PGE GiEK, trade union representatives and the management of the Dolna Odra Power Plant Branch signed an agreement on Friday, October 24, regarding a protection package for employees of the shut down plant.

According to PGE’s announcement, the value of the package is estimated at approximately PLN 250 million, and severance pay may amount to up to 30 times the average monthly salary, i.e. up to PLN 400,000. PLN gross per person.

– Signing the agreement proves that we can work together to develop solutions that broadly protect people’s interests. Our priority is responsible transformation – carried out with people and for people in mind, with respect for dialogue and mutual trust. We want every employee to have a sense of security and real support in this process. Support programs for employees of the Dolna Odra Power Plant

For employees who do not want to stay in the Group, one-off severance pay and a Voluntary Leave Program have been prepared. People approaching retirement who have a maximum of four years of service remaining will be able to take advantage of energy leave, receiving 80 percent. monthly remuneration, in accordance with the Act on social protection.

– The agreement is a huge achievement and a source of satisfaction for us. For many months, we conducted intense conversations, often difficult and requiring compromises, but we were always guided by a common goal – to ensure that employees feel safe during the transformation. The Dolna Odra Power Plant is a place with a huge history, for decades it has been a pillar of the local economy and community. That is why it was so important that the transformation process respected the people who created it. Today’s agreement is a guarantee that no one will be left alone – emphasized Mariusz Kamiński, chairman of the MNSZZ Employees of the Dolna Odra Power Plant Complex.

PGE ensures that employees will receive a full package of information about their rights, qualification criteria and the procedure for joining support programs, and will also be able to take advantage of meetings with career advisors and labor market experts.

PGE Group investments

The agreement at the Dolna Odra Power Plant is part of PGE’s strategic energy transformation, which includes multi-billion investments in regions previously based on coal.

The Group is running a program worth PLN 7 billion in Gryfino and the surrounding area, under which two gas-steam units with a capacity of 1,366 MW were launched in 2024, and the Gryfino Heating Plant is currently under construction, planned to be handed over in the third quarter of 2026. In August, PGE announced a tender for a 600 MW gas unit in Gryfino – Dolna Odra and plans to build a battery energy storage facility with a capacity of 400 MW and a capacity of min. 800 MWh.
