German media in the reverse? A big change on the Polish market

After 35 years of presence on the market, the German weekly “Wochenblatt” transforms into a modern monthly “Neues Wochenblatt.pl”.
The change aims to adapt to the needs of modern media recipients among the German minorities in Poland. The new edition will appear once a month, and the internet portal will be enriched with news, podcasts and programs.
A new edition of the German minority media
During the press conference in Opole, the chairman of the Union of German socio-cultural associations in Poland, Rafał Bartek, announced a new media concept for the German environment in Poland. The legendary “Wochenblatt”, appearing since 1989, undergoes a transformation – from the weekly to the new name “Neues Wochenblatt.pl”.
Modern form. Traditional content
The new magazine will have 52 pages and will appear at the end of each month. In addition to the refreshed logo, the editors focus on the dynamic development of the digital version. Daily messages, political analyzes, interviews with experts and multimedia materials will be published on the website. For younger recipients, podcasts and radio programs available online will be launched.
The voice of the German minority in Poland
– For us, as a German community in Poland, our own independent media are of great importance. It is a space in which we can present our perspective, cultivate culture and language, and also conduct a dialogue with the majority society – emphasized Rafał Bartek.
Step towards the future
The transformation “Wochenblatt” is a response to changing media habits and information needs of modern readers. Thanks to the combination of printing with the Internet, tradition with modernity, “Neues Wochenblatt.pl” is to become a strong voice of the German minority in Poland – both in paper and digital format.
