German economist: Germany’s regression is much faster than I expected

Thilo Sarrazin

About the Turks in Berlin said they were unsuitable for anything but trade in fruit. He accused the Germans that by accepting Muslims, they kill themselves. Thilo Sarrazin, a controversial German politician, a former Bundesbank member, whose books are selling in millions of copies around the world, he speaks for “Wprost” about the future of the European Union, about deregulation in Germany, about Trump’s customs regime, about the diligence of the Chinese and what is awaiting Poland.

Szymon Krawiec, “Wprost”: a long time. Recently we talked 11 years ago. You then published a book why Europe does not need euro. You said that the Polish euro does not need either. Everything relevant?

Thilo Sarrazin: Denmark and Sweden are doing quite well with their own currency outside the euro area. With a flexible exchange rate, there is a greater chance of maintaining competitiveness.

The European Union still has a chance to be more competitive to catch up with the US or China?

The common European market is our great economic, but also political achievement. I am not sure what we understand the catchment of the US or China. The European Union will never be able to achieve such political and economic opportunities that the United States has. We will always have a more developed guardian state than Americans, but we will also be more culturally diverse than them, we will have a richer history than them.
