German discount stores build cheap apartments. You will not guess where they arise

German discount stores build flats on the roofs of their stores. Is this a revolution in a flat?
Cheap apartment at the market? Discount stores have an idea to support a flat. Trade chains build their stores by creating apartments on the roofs. The first such investments have already been created in Germany and Great Britain. They are built by both Aldi and Lidl. In Poland, at least for now, discount stores do not implement similar projects.
Discount stores with apartments
The idea of developing discount roofs is not new. Aldi Süd decided to place a part of his stores, apartments for students and has been building them for a long time. Mainly over network facilities located in academic cities. In 2016, 40 premises intended for students were established in Tibinga (Badenie-Wiresge). Further apartments were built in Landau in Rhineland-Palatinate. The network also cooperated with the authorities of Berlin on the construction of over 200 apartments over its stores in the German capital. This year another implementation is to start. According to the website “DaHandlu.pl”, a four -story block will be built in the suburbs of Mannheim as a superstructure of the Aldi store. Design works are to last from February to August 2025. The production of modules is scheduled for September. The finishing work is to be completed 2027.
Apartments for pennies
Or rather for the cent. For example, the project implemented by Aldi in Hamburg will offer flats at prices similar to the rates in force in social apartments (excluding heating costs). According to the portal “DaHandlu.pl”, 14 quarters will be built as part of this investment, of which about 30 percent. It will be rented at a price of 6.50 euros per square meter. The rest will be available at a price of 10 euros per square meter. “The company plans to keep the ownership of apartments and rent them, focusing on increasing space for new stores, and not on obtaining significant returns from rent,” the website said.
