Gasoline at PLN 10/l? Eloquent words of the Minister of Energy
Fuel prices are rising, but as the Minister of Energy assures, they will not exceed the limit of PLN 10/l. There is no hope for the reactivation of the CPN.
Less than ten days have passed since the abolition of the Lower Fuel Prices (CPN) package, and drivers already miss it.
Back 23 percent VAT rates on fuels (the package assumed a reduction of up to 8%) translated into an increase in prices at stations by over one zloty. According to the first September quotation of retail fuel prices conducted by e-petrol.pl, the average price of 95-octane E10 gasoline was PLN 7.63/l. In turn, a liter of diesel cost on average PLN 8.39/l.
– Compared to the latest levels of maximum prices published by the Ministry of Energy, the price of a liter of petrol has increased by PLN 1.06, and diesel by PLN 1.03 – e-petrol experts calculated.
The highest prices for fuel were paid by those who refueled in Lower Silesia, Kujawy and Pomerania, the Lublin region, Mazovia, the Opole region, Podlasie, Lesser Poland, as well as in the Świętokrzyskie and Łódź voivodeships. Drivers there paid PLN 7.64/l last week.
PLN 10 per liter of fuel? The Minister of Energy reassures
This week welcomed drivers with rates approaching PLN 8/l (the popular “95” because the price of diesel was closer to PLN 9/l). Can we expect a situation where we will have to pay PLN 10/l for fuel? This was the question that Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka heard on Tuesday.
– There is no such analysis today. And analysts don’t predict it either. How the crisis in the Middle East will develop is unknown, but there is no such threat in the near future. However, fuel prices in Poland are high – said the head of the Ministry of Energy in the “Political Triangle” program on TVP Info.
Earlier, Motyka ruled out the possibility of another reactivation of the CPN package. The minister blamed this on President Karol Nawrocki, who at the end of July submitted to the Constitutional Tribunal a law introducing a 60% tax on extraordinary profits of fuel companies.
– Due to the president’s decision, unfortunately, there is no such budget option today – said the Minister of Energy in an interview with RMF FM.
