Gadu-Gadu returns in a big way. The application of the future is being prepared

Gadu-Gadu is to return in a new setting. The application owner wants to make it a tool for communication, payment and entertainment.
Gadu-Gadu, the iconic Polish internet messenger, is preparing for a great return in a new setting. Of the three most popular national communication platforms from the beginning of the 21st century – our class, Golden Line and GG – only the latter has survived to this day. Its current owner, fintech fintecom, decided to restore its importance and transform into modern superaplication.
Gadu-Gadu collection
From June 12, Fintecom runs a Crowdfunding collection, which aims to obtain PLN 1.9 million. The money is to be allocated to modernize Gadu-Gadu and expand with new functionalities. Until now, those interested have declared just over 96 thousand. PLN, but the company ensures that even if the full amount is not reached, the project will be implemented anyway – although at a slower pace.
The plan assumes the creation of a versatile application combining communication, payments and entertainment. As spokesman GG Jarosław Rybus emphasized, the creators want to combine known and liked functions with modern services that will meet the needs of modern users. He also noted that although the competition is large-BLIK, Revolut or Mobch Citizen-Gadu-Gadu has a community of about half a million active users a month, which gives solid foundations for development.
Young generation
Contrary to popular beliefs, GG is not an application today only for people who remember its golden era. The data cited by “Puls Biznesu” shows that a significant proportion of current users are young people aged 16 to 30. This shows that the application can still attract new generations, and not just operate from the momentum of nostalgia.
If the collection is successful, Gadu-Gadu can become the first Polish superaplication that will combine chat, payments and services in one place. Will it be possible to restore old popularity? The future will show, but one thing is certain – GG has not yet said the last word.
