The Ministry of Energy published an announcement regarding fuel prices on Friday, May 29. Drivers can count on discounts before the weekend.

From Monday, March 30, the Ministry of Energy publishes announcements specifying maximum fuel prices at stations.

From the latest announcement, published in the morning in Monitor Polski, we learn how much those who refuel will pay on Friday, May 29.

What are fuel prices on May 29? There are discounts

On May 29, the rates for individual fuels will be:

  • unleaded petrol Pb95: 6.16 per liter,

  • unleaded petrol Pb98: PLN 6.73 per liter,

  • diesel oil: PLN 6.37 per liter.

Let us remind you that the maximum fuel prices applicable today (May 28) are:

  • unleaded petrol Pb95: 6.31 per liter,

  • unleaded petrol Pb98: PLN 6.86 per liter,

  • diesel oil: PLN 6.57 per liter.

Let us recall that the government adopted a package called “Fuel Prices Lower” (CPN) on March 26. A day later, it was accepted by parliamentarians and then signed by President Karol Nawrocki. The package includes, among others: reduction of the VAT rate on fuels from 23%. up to 8%, a reduction in excise duty to the minimum EU levels (by PLN 29/l for petrol and PLN 28/l for diesel), as well as the introduction of a maximum retail price for fuels. The package is valid until May 31, i.e. until next Sunday, but according to the declaration of the Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka, it may be extended until mid-June.

The regulations oblige fuel sellers to charge prices no higher than the announced limits. Exceeding the maximum price will result in a penalty of up to PLN 1 million. Inspections in this respect will be carried out by the National Tax Administration (KAS). The maximum price is set according to a specific formula. It takes into account the average wholesale price of fuels on the domestic market, to which are added, among others, excise duty, fuel fee, sales margin of PLN 0.30 per liter and VAT.

The maximum price announced by the Minister of Energy is valid from the day following its publication in Monitor Polski. If announced before non-working days and holidays, the rate will apply until the next business day.
