From the south to the Baltic Sea via one route. S11 is entering a key phase
New stage of construction of S11. Offers have been submitted for the project of a 29 km section in Silesia. A key north-south corridor will be created.
The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways announced the next step in the implementation of one of the most important road investments in Poland – the construction of the S11 expressway. This route will ultimately exceed 560 km and will connect the West Pomeranian Voivodeship with the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis, creating a new transport corridor from the north to the south of the country.
Construction offers
This time it is an almost 29-kilometer section in the Silesian Voivodeship – from the end of the Olesno bypass, on the border with the province. Opole, to the border of Lubliniec and Tarnowskie Góry counties. Five design offices took part in the tender for the preparation of design studies and geological research. The price range of offers is significant – from PLN 12,445,386 to PLN 26,285,346.
The lowest offer was submitted by Trakt from Katowice. The remaining offers were presented by: INGEO from Gdańsk, IVIA from Katowice, STI Polska from Warsaw and Transprojekt-Warszawa. The procedure is conducted as an open tender. When evaluating offers, the price constitutes 60 percent, and the experience and qualifications of the teams – 40 percent.
New episode
The scope of work includes, among others: preparation of maps for design purposes, traffic analyses, geometric and economic analyses, geological and geotechnical studies and cost-benefit analyses. The documentation will be the basis for announcing a future tender in the “Design and Build” formula.
In the province Silesian S11 will have a total length of 64 km. For the remaining two sections – to the Radzionków junction (31 km) and to the Piekary Śląskie junction (approx. 5 km) – the documentation is already at a more advanced stage. In the case of the section constituting part of the Tarnowskie Góry bypass, offers for analyzes and expertise have already been opened, and the most advantageous one is to be selected in March. For the shortest fragment, an agreement was previously signed to develop elements of the program concept.
The construction of the entire S11 route was included in the Government National Road Construction Program. Ultimately, it will connect Kołobrzeg with Piekary Śląskie, and together with the joint route with S6 and A2, it will create an over 600-kilometer communication route. This is an investment that is intended to strengthen the country’s transport cohesion and shorten travel times between the Baltic Sea and southern Poland.
