From “Idol” to Tusk’s government. A new face of Polish sport
Sławomir Nitras will no longer manage the affairs of Polish sport. He will be replaced by Jakub Rutnicki, a longtime MP of KO.
Donald Tusk has completed many weeks negotiations with coalition partners and media speculation and announced changes in his government. We met the details of the reconstruction during a press conference.
In the Council of Ministers there was both personal castles and changes in the government structure itself. Some resorts were completely liquidated and others were combined in the so -called Superresorts.

Even before the prime minister’s speech, the exchanges of the names of potential candidates for resignation. Sławomir Nitras decided to warn the facts and himself informed about his departure from the government.
“This week my service ends in the government of the Republic of Poland. Everyone with whom my fate came across me, especially athletes – low bows and thanks. It was an honor and great pleasure,” said the current minister of sport in the recording posted in social media.
Jakub Rutnicki, the new minister of sport
Two scenarios were considered for the Ministry of Sport – the ministry could be combined with another ministry, e.g. culture or education, or Donald Tusk was to designate Sławomir Nitras’s successor. The prime minister decided on the latter solution. The matters of Polish sport were entrusted to Jakub Rutnicki.
Jakub Rutnicki comes from Szamotuły in Greater Poland. He graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Journalism of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań. Viewers of the first edition of the “Idol” program certainly associate Jakub Rutnicki, who was in the final ten -musical show of Polsat. One of the hits of the Dżem group made the jury to the jury.
Ultimately, however, Jakub Rutnicki focused on politics. In 2002, he officially joined the ranks of the Civic Platform. In the years 2002–2005 he was the wounded of the Szamotuły poviat. Three years later, he applied for the mandate for the first time. He sits in the Sejm for several terms.
In 2019, the KO politician tried his hand at European elections, but ultimately he failed to get the mandate of the MEP. During the parliamentary elections in 2023, Jakub Rutnicki convinced so many voters that he obtained the highest result in the Polish district – 67,069 votes.
What does Jakub Rutnicki have to do with sport?
Jakub Rutnicki is currently the head of the Sejm Committee on Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism. – Polish sport needs support and transparency. We must be sure about reliability. Polish sport is strongly supported by state -owned companies, but each such agreement should be looked at – he said after the current ruling coalition took over.
In earlier years it is him who coordinated the Orlik construction program in Greater Poland. He also has organization of the Rutnicki Cup volleyball tournament. Privately, he is a football fan.
