Friday with Euro 2024 hits. An early final ahead
The quarter-final phase of Euro 2024 begins on Friday. Right from the start, we’ll get a clash that promises to be sensational.
After two days off, the competition for Euro 2024 is back. We now have quarter-finals ahead of us – two on Friday and Saturday. Right at the beginning of this phase of the competition, we will have an exciting duel. Spain will face the German national team, the host of the tournament.
Spain – Germany. Premature finale
Many fans and experts regret that Spain and Germany are already facing each other in the quarter-finals. They are the two best-playing teams in terms of style at Euro 2024. Spain is the only team to have won all of its tournament matches. Luis de la Fuente’s team finished the group stage with a goal difference of 5-0, and in the 1/8 finals they crushed Georgia 4-1, which had previously been able to beat Portugal.
The Germans, on the other hand, had more or less trouble, but their game can also be viewed with admiration, considering the depth of their previous years. In the group stage, Julian Nagelsmann’s team defeated the Scots (5:1) and the Hungarians (2:0) and drew 1:1 with Switzerland, saving a favorable result in the last minutes of the match. In the 1/8 finals, they defeated Denmark 2:0.
As you can see, both teams can play offensively, while conceding few goals. Let’s hope that the big hit will live up to expectations, and the fans will receive a great spectacle worthy of an early final. This match will start at 6:00 p.m.
Portugal – France: The “Bored” Powers
After the clash between Spain and Germany, it will be time for Portugal and France to compete (9:00 p.m.). In theory, this is also a big hit in the quarter-finals, but in practice, both teams are struggling at Euro 2024. Suffice it to say that Portugal won promotion to this stage of the competition after a penalty shootout in the match against Slovenia, and France has scored three goals in four matches. Two of them are own goals, and one was scored from a penalty.
It can be said that Portugal and France are disappointing, but they are still among the eight best teams in Europe. Perhaps the quarter-finals will be the time when the giants wake up. What is particularly surprising is the sluggishness of France in the offensive, where their potential in this respect is enormous. Portugal, on the other hand, is waiting for Cristiano Ronaldo’s first goal on German pitches. The 39-year-old did not use the penalty in the clash with Slovenia. We will see whose light will shine brighter in the evening – Cristiano Ronaldo or Kylian Mbappe.
