Four men held this fish for the photo. A record catch by a 30-year-old
British tourists caught a catfish weighing over 117 kilograms in Spain. The fight with the water giant lasted about half an hour.
Josh Garrity went on vacation this fall to the small town of Mequinenza in northeastern Spain. The 30-year-old excavator driver from Glasson spent his free time with fishing and his friends. They were fishing in the delta of the Segre River, which is famous for its large catfish.
Record catch of tourists from Great Britain
On October 16, around 9:30 p.m., during one of those lazy days, Josh felt a powerful tug that almost pulled him into the water. The man, together with four friends, managed to pull the huge catfish to the shore. They wrestled with the fish for about half an hour. Finally, the four of them lifted the almost three-meter-long creature, and the fifth of them took a souvenir photo.
The fish turned out to be a record fish even for this area. “It was crazy, I could barely breathe,” said the resident of Glasson, Cumbria. – At the beginning I didn’t know what I had on my line at all – he said.
– This thing almost got us all hooked. We were barely holding on, we almost fell in, I was screaming, the emotional 30-year-old continued. – This is the catch of a lifetime, I can barely believe it – he said. As local guides pointed out, it was a record catch in this river, close to the world record.
