The former president of the Republic of Poland, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, who was also the president of the Polish Olympic Committee in the past, commented on this commotion. “I agree with what Donald Tusk wrote. The journalist’s behavior, according to the rules in force on television, was inappropriate. But the reaction of the station’s authorities was exaggerated and unnecessary,” he confessed in an interview for WP SportowychFakty.
– If editor Babiarz has strong political views, then maybe he should change jobs and not deal with sports. And since everyone knew about it in advance and decided that he would comment on the opening ceremony, the subsequent suspension and unsuspension of the journalist was not serious – he added.
The conditions for Przemysław Babiarz’s return to TVP
Onet and “Przegląd Sportowy” revealed the background, citing Sport.pl, of the decision to reinstate Babiarz. It turns out that TVP set a condition.
“During the meeting, the station’s authorities were to emphasize and remind that all TVP Sport journalists are bound by the same rules: to focus on sports, not to make political trips and not to manifest their own views. This also applies to Babiarz” – the condition from Babiarz’s employer was revealed.
