Former Minister of Agriculture from PiS on the CPK scandal: There were guidelines for KOWR

Były minister rolnictwa – Henryk Kowalczyk

The scandal surrounding the sale of a plot of land that is key to the CPK plan is gaining momentum. Four resignations from KOWR were decided. Former Minister of Agriculture Henryk Kowalczyk revealed facts that shed new light on the matter.

At the National Support Center for Agriculture, the acting director of the audit, the acting director of the human resources department, and the head of the Warsaw field branch of KOWR were dismissed – TVP Info editorial staff found out.

This is another move after the outbreak of the high-profile scandal publicized by Wirtualna Polska. The portal’s editorial staff informed that in 2023, when Robert Telus was the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, vice-president Dawtona was to receive consent to purchase a nearly 160-hectare plot. The problem is that the property in Zabłotnia in Mazovia is strategic in the large-scale plan of the Central Communication Port (a high-speed railway line from the Polish capital to the CPK is to run through it). Piotr Wielgomas – the son of the founder of the company that has been specializing in fruit and vegetable products for three decades, bought it for PLN 23 million, although today its value is estimated at PLN 380-400 million.

Former Minister of Agriculture regarding the decision to sell the plot: Premature

Kowalczyk – treasurer of Law and Justice, and former minister of agriculture – was asked in Warsaw about the CPK scandal. In an interview with Telewizja Polska, he indicated that the plot had been leased for many years. – I don’t know what the reason was for this sale or such acceleration. This will be explained, he pointed out. He also informed that “there were guidelines for KOWR not to sell (plots – ed.) in the area both close to and in the vicinity of the CPK” – If only so that farmers who will be expropriated, because such cases may happen, would be offered alternative agricultural land for the possible reconstruction of farms – he explained in the parliamentary corridor.

As for the sale of the plot, according to Kowalczyk, the decision “was premature.”
