Forgotten government program offers rental subsidies. Up to PLN 1,000

The Mieszkanie na Start program has been in operation for over five years. It provides rental subsidies for selected tenants.

As noted by the Infor.pl website, in practice, such subsidies are most often available to tenants of residential buildings constructed by PFR Nieruchomości, as well as to people living in some new municipal housing investments.

The regulations assume that subsidies may be applied for no longer than 20 years, counted from the month in which the housing investment was completed. However, a fifteen-year term of subsidizing the lease has been established for a given tenant. It is calculated from the month in which the first subsidy is transferred to the landlord’s account.

– It should be noted that it is the commune that, after concluding an appropriate agreement with the investor, conducts the recruitment of applications for the conclusion of a lease agreement and then submits an application to BGK for granting subsidies. The principles for conducting the recruitment of applications are determined by a resolution of the commune – explains Magdalena Markiewicz, an expert from the NieruchomościSzybko.pl portal, quoted by the portal.

The website points out that the condition for using rental subsidies is not only living in a building covered by an appropriate agreement with BGK. The regulations provide that subsidies should be granted to people who cannot satisfy their housing needs on the commercial market. They are due in a situation where the average monthly household income (within the meaning of the Act of 28 November 2003 on family benefits) does not exceed, respectively:

• 100 percent of the average salary in the national economy recently announced by the President of the Central Statistical Office – limit for singles;

• 100% of the average salary mentioned above, increased by an additional 40 percentage points for each additional household member – the limit for larger households (e.g. 180% of the average salary for a three-person household).

Rental Allowances. Who Can Count on 1000 PLN?

An expert from the NieruchomościSzybko.pl portal points out that larger households can count on a monthly rent subsidy of over PLN 1,000. – For example, the maximum amount of subsidies for a five-person household in Wrocław is currently PLN 1,090 per month. In the case of a childless couple, the corresponding limit is reduced to PLN 477 – informs Magdalena Markiewicz.

Although the rental subsidy rules currently apply to relatively few tenants, as Infor.pl writes, it can be expected that the number of investments covered by rent subsidies from BGK will slowly grow, and no one is talking about liquidation or changes to the Mieszkanie na Start program for now.
