For innovative CAR-T therapy. Wprost Innovator in the Pharmaceutical Category for BMS
CAR-T therapies set a new standard of treatment. Our therapy gives patients with aggressive lymphomas a chance for a good response and even cure – said Antoni Żarski, CEO of Bristol Myers Squibb Polska. BMS received the Wprost Innowatory award in the Pharmaceutical category for the therapy, which is available from April 1, 2026 also for Polish patients.
BMS received the Wprost Innovators award in the Pharmaceutical category for its modern CAR-T therapy – BREYANZI® (lisocabtagene maraleucel).
“In this category, we award unique therapies that respond to medical challenges, are based on a breakthrough scientific approach and have solid clinical evidence. Thanks to this innovative and breakthrough therapy, patients with aggressive lymphomas, with a very poor prognosis, with resistant and relapsed disease, have a chance for deep and long-lasting remissions. This is a new generation CAR-T technology, backed by years of intensive research. It is distinguished by a unique design – CD4+ and CD8+ lymphocytes are produced separately, they will fight cancer cells in the patient’s body. It is this biological precision that translates into greater effectiveness and safety,” the laudation emphasized.
– This is an innovative therapy: we collect immune cells from the patient (T lymphocytes), then genetically modify them to teach them to fight cancer, and then give them back to the patient. They begin the fight against an oncological disease: in this case, aggressive lymphoma. In addition, once administered, T lymphocytes, taught to fight the oncological disease, are able to continue to multiply in the patient’s body and ensure long-lasting effects of the therapy. This therapy is extremely important because it gives the patient a chance to recover. This is a breakthrough– noted director Antoni Żarski.
An additional advantage of the awarded CAR-T therapy is a very good safety profile: therefore, it can also be received by patients who were not eligible for an autologous bone marrow transplant.
The jury of the Innowatory Wprost Award awarded the award to BMS – as emphasized in the laudation – “for consistency in research, courage; combination of vision, science, technology with responsibility for human life; for a new look at the future of personalized medicine.”
From April 1, 2026, this therapy is reimbursed in Poland.
