Cultural bridge
The event will have a unique character-a delegation from Chicago will come to Krakow, including representatives of the Polish-American Chamber of Commerce (PACC). It is their commitment that two key works of art presented as part of the investment are dedicated – a sculpture “Woman in a scarf” placed in the SOHO courtyard and a fluorescent mural by Anna Sermak – the first of this type in Poland, which brightens the building’s facade at 20:30.
Earlier, at 14:00, the official opening of the investment will take place – a symbolic cutting of the ribbon and handing over the keys to the first residents of Soho Residence II. The event will be attended by representatives of the city authorities, including prof. Stanisław Mazur, 1st deputy mayor of the city of Krakow, representatives of the US consulate and Krakow universities, as well as invited guests from Poland and the United States. Participants will be the first to see the gallery of paintings of Krakow artists.
Students and graduates of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts – a university, with which Terra Casa students often undertake valuable cooperation, is responsible for the artistic side of the undertaking.
– We wanted the opening of Soho Residence II to be not only the moment of handing over the apartments, but also the holiday of art and international cooperation. Thanks to the involvement of ASP students and our Chicago partners, this event has gained a unique, symbolic dimension
-says Aleksandra Żuraw-Miłkowska, Communication Director at Terra Casa.
Art and architecture in the service of everyday life
Soho Kraków is a housing project, but to a large extent also a platform for building international relations. The delegation of Terra Casa and the artist Anna Sermak in May represented Poland at the Parade of the 3rd of May Constitution in Chicago. Now, American partners visit Krakow – This is proof that art can connect people over borders, and architecture can be a space for a meeting, dialogue and inspiration – says Artur Tłustochowski, president of Terra Casa.
Soho Residence II as part of Soho Kraków is 55 apartments designed in a spirit of sustainable development – modern, but deeply set in the urban context and artistic tradition of Krakow. – This is a place that not only ensures comfort of life, but also shapes the aesthetics and identity of the Grzegórzki district. The project in the field of sustainable development is inspired by the architecture and art of the New York district of Soho and combines the elegance of tenement houses, modernity and artistic nonchalance – says Aleksandra Żuraw-Miłkowska, communication director at Terra Casa.
