Another European airline has increased ticket prices. In both directions, we will pay up to EUR 100 more than two months ago.
Airline passengers experienced an increase in ticket prices. Not only in Asia, where prices with some carriers have increased by up to 40 percent, but also in Europe. As Rynek Lotniczy writes, some of the most harmed are the clients of the Air France-KLM holding. For the second time in just two months, the French-Dutch carrier has significantly increased its rates. On long-distance routes, this is up to EUR 100 difference for a round trip. How long will this condition last?
Air France-KLM has increased prices by up to 100 euros
Ticket prices on routes operated by Air France-KLM have skyrocketed. The carrier, reacting to the drastic increase in aviation fuel prices, increased its tariffs twice within two months. First, in March, the holding introduced an increase of approximately EUR 50. In April he did it again. In total, it is up to EUR 100 for a round-trip in the cheapest economy class and premium economy class – however, such a big change will only be felt by passengers traveling on long-distance, intercontinental routes. “A slightly smaller scale of increases applies to routes to North America – in the case of flights to the United States, Canada or Mexico, ticket prices increased by EUR 70,” writes Rynek Lotniczy.
Transavia, a budget airline owned by the holding (which recently debuted in Poland), also announced increases. However, the scale of surcharges is much smaller (approx. EUR 10 for return flights).
When will the price increases end?
The rate increase only applies to new bookings. All those who purchased their tickets before the changes will remain entitled to the old price. The Strait of Hormuz was opened on April 17, but it may take months to restore stable jet fuel prices. “If fuel prices remain high or continue to rise, further ticket price increases seem almost inevitable,” we read.
