Flights and trains from Poland to the funeral of the Pope. There is a decision of the carriers

The funeral ceremony of Pope Francis will take place at Saint Peter’s Square this Saturday. However, Poles may have a problem reaching Rome.
The chances of buying flights to Rome fall every hour. Although until recently it seemed that Francis’ funeral would not cause such a move in Poles as the death of John Paul II, ultimately flights to the Italian capital were almost sold out, although of course participation in the celebrations may not be the main reason for the journey among all passengers. “Single tickets have been left for Friday cruises, Saturday flights are already sold out,” says LOT spokesman Krzysztof Moczulski in an interview with PAP.
There will be no more flights
Poles who are still thinking about pilgrimage to Rome on the occasion of the funeral of Pope Francis should plan their journey as soon as possible. It does not promise that the airlines and rail carriers decided to increase the availability of tickets to Friday and Saturday routes. “Cruises to Rome are implemented in accordance with the scheduled flight schedule,” said Krzysztof Moczulski, emphasizing that PLL LOT is not planning to introduce additional connections into the net. It looks similar in cheap competition. This week, most tickets from Warsaw to Rome on the Wizz Air have already been sold out. Several tickets are available at 14:40, and the price is PLN 609 for the cheapest offer without luggage.
It is even more expensive at Ryanair, where the prices of connections for Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Modlin to the Rome-Ciampino airport are already over PLN 1,200 one way. “I bet that there will be no madness, as in the case of the death of John Paul II,” said Jarosław Kałucki, spokesman for the Travelplanet.pl platform yesterday in an interview with Tokfm.pl.
To Rome from Poland by train
Travelers who do not decide to buy an expensive air connection, or will not be able to start booking before the complete sale of places, remains a train journey – in this case, however, it certainly will not do without transfers. “PKP Intercity said that it is not planning to introduce a special train to the Italian capital,” writes Business Insider Polska. To get to the Italian capital, you must first enter Vienna to change to another night connection to Rome. However, ticket prices for Night’s journey start from 189 euros. The final price of travel will therefore be comparable and even more expensive than a plane cruise.
