Flight to Ibiza Turns into a Nightmare: Couple Kicked Off Plane
A riot broke out on a Ryanair flight to a Spanish island after a drunk passenger forced the plane to make an emergency landing.
Passengers travelling on a Ryanair flight from Manchester to Ibiza witnessed a serious intervention by the crew. One of the passengers had consumed too much alcohol and then started a row with the staff. The man was also aggressive towards his fellow travellers. When the fights broke out on board, the pilot decided to make an emergency landing in Toulouse. Both the drunk passenger and his wife were removed from the plane by the police.
An aggressive passenger caused an emergency landing.
Although flights from the UK to the party island of Ibiza are usually not the most peaceful, excessively loud passenger behaviour usually ends with a few warnings from the crew. However, during Sunday’s flight from Manchester, one of the passengers crossed all the boundaries of decency. The British man, who was travelling to the Spanish island with his wife, did not forget to buy alcohol in the duty-free zone. Although the consumption of alcohol purchased outside the plane is prohibited, the man managed to hide an open bottle of vodka from the staff for a long time. Shortly after consuming the alcohol, the tourist began to argue with the crew. The violence quickly escalated. “He drank the vodka, hit the crew and spat on the passengers (…). The man began to argue with a member of the cabin crew and hit him in the face,” we read in the Daily Mail article. The crew managed to overpower the tourist, but the whole incident lasted up to 40 minutes.
Emergency landing in France
In the face of problems, the plane’s pilots decided to make an emergency landing in Toulouse in southern France. After the plane grounded on the runway, armed officers entered the plane. The officers removed not only the man who was causing trouble, but also his wife (it is not known whether the woman also took part in the riots). “The Ryanair plane spent just over an hour and a half on the tarmac before resuming its flight to Ibiza,” we read. This is not the only incident of this type that has occurred in the air in the past week. Tourists flying an easyJet flight from London Gatwick to the Greek island of Kos also had a problem with a drunk passenger.
