Fire on Skrzyczne. Tourists had to run away from the shelter
Staying in a hotel or mountain hostel should be safe. We have repeatedly convinced that this is not always the case. Now people relaxing in Szczyrk will not remember their trip.
A dangerous situation occurred at the highest peak in the Mountain Group of the Silesian Beskids in the external Western Carpathians. On the night of Wednesday to Thursday in Skrzyczne in Szczyrk, an outbuilding (grill and warehouses) in the immediate vicinity of the tourist hostel burned down. Many people were resting in its area. Everyone had to run away.

It was supposed to be a quiet night, but tourists were thwarted by gestures of smoke floating next to the hostel and in it. As soon as it was realized that there was a fire, rescue services were called. Ten fire brigades participated in the action. Aid was not the easiest one. “Due to the mountain location of the object, the transport of rescuers and equipment was difficult,” the State Fire Service in Bielsko-Biała described in social media.
It is known that every help was at a premium. Quads, snowmobers and rattracks were included in the campaign. A team dealing with the maintenance of the ski slope showed great support.
“Our actions consisted of giving 2 currents of water to a burning object and 1 current in defense of the shelter. We used a hydrant installation used to snow the slope, as well as the firefighting installation of a nearby Start Hotel. After extinguishing the fire, demolition work, removing burned materials and extinguishing possible fire was started, “firefighters described their work.

At the time of the fire, 22 people stayed in the shelter in the shelter. It is known that these have safely left the smoky building and fortunately no one has suffered.
After extinguishing the fire, firefighters, by virtue of the decision of the commander of the action, checked the building for a concentration of CO – 0 ppm. A positive result allowed guests to return to the building safely. Ultimately, the fire did not reach the shelter directly, which was why the destruction was recorded only in economic parts. The actions of the guard were successful.
