WTA 500 Guadalajara: Magdalena Fręch in the tournament final!
This may not be the end of good news for the tennis player from Łódź. Fręch has not had the opportunity to win a WTA 500 tournament in her career. However, she earned such an opportunity thanks to her great performance in recent days on the hard courts in Mexico. Another example was the semi-final match in Mexico, where the Polish player dealt with Caroline Garcia. A Frenchwoman who was even fourth in the WTA rankings at one time.
The match itself was full of emotions. Garcia was leading 3:0 and 5:2 in the first set. However, Fręch felt that she was facing the chance of a lifetime. For this reason, she kept pressing her opponent and got her chances. The player from Łódź defended two set points in the first set and managed to gain the upper hand, eventually leading to a tie-break. In it, the Pole won 7:4 and took a rather unexpected lead, considering the course of the set.
The Frenchwoman, however, did not give up. In the second set, she took the lead 3:0 again, having already had two breaks of the Polish tennis player’s serve. Even such a break did not break Fręch. The Pole played patiently, which resulted in unforced errors from her opponent. From 0:3 it became 3:3. After two hours and seven minutes, the Pole won 7:6(4) and 7:5 in the second set.
When is the final of the tournament with Magdalena Fręch participating?
There is one more step left for the Pole to be completely happy. The player from Łódź will play in the match for the title against the Australian Olivia Gadecki. Her opponent is the 152nd racket in the world ranking. The Pole will have to be vigilant, however, because it is no coincidence that her opponent is in the game for the WTA 500 trophy. The winner, in addition to half a thousand points to the ranking, will receive a check for the amount of 142 thousand dollars.
When will the final match Fręch – Gadecki take place? The start is planned for 1:30 Polish time, on the night from Sunday to Monday. The broadcast will be available on Canal+ Sport 2 and the Canal+ online platform.
