FIFA announced the hosts of the World Cup! The first such choice in history
Representatives of 211 member federations took part in FIFA’s online voting and confirmed the hosts of the 2030 and 2034 World Cups.
In 2030, the FIFA World Cup will be held in three countries. These will be Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Interestingly, the first three matches will take place in South America on the occasion of the tournament’s centenary – in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
However, the decision regarding 2034 is causing a lot of controversy. FIFA has again chosen… a fat wallet. The country that received the right to host the World Cup is Saudi Arabia.
FIFA has officially announced the hosts of the World Cup in 2030 and 2034!
The decisions were announced during the FIFA congress held in Zurich. The International Football Federation can therefore once again propose to the world an unusual date for the World Cup. This is the case of Saudi Arabia, where, as was the case in Qatar in 2022, it will be necessary to decide on the winter months. This is the only way the organizers will avoid the heat that prevails in those regions of the world.
Already before the official announcement, suspecting that FIFA would not change its direction – and the voting would take place in the intended way in the context of favorites – the possibility of holding the tournament in Saudi Arabia was mentioned even in… January 2035. It would be quite a bizarre solution, the 2034 World Cup taking place in the calendar year 2035. However, it is possible that such a scenario – due to weather conditions and club competition calendars – will be taken into account.
It is worth adding that the Saudis have been investing heavily in football for several years now. There is no coincidence that the biggest star of the league in Saudi Arabia is Cristiano Ronaldo. And other football players from strong European clubs decide to accept the huge money offered by local billionaires. FIFA’s choice is therefore not really a surprise.
