FC Barcelona coach about Wojciech Szczęsny. He broke his silence after the red card

FC Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 5-2 in the final of the Spanish Super Cup. Wojciech Szczęsny finished the match with a red card. Will Hansi Flick give the Pole a chance?
Polish fans of the Pride of Catalonia have been experiencing quite a lot of mood swings in recent weeks. On the one hand, a great success in the form of defeating Real Madrid in the final El Clasico 5:2. There are two Poles on the pitch, Wojciech Szczęsny in goal and Robert Lewandowski… with a goal, or rather a goal and an assist against the Royals.
Hansi Flick on Wojciech Szczęsny’s future at FC Barcelona
However, the former goalkeeper of the Polish national team did not finish Sunday’s final. A galactic match ended with a spectacular triumph for Barca. Szczęsny received a red card. This is the result of the offense committed by the Pole by fouling Kylian Mbappe.
Inaki Pena entered the goal for the Pole. The Spaniard lost his place between the posts thanks to Szczęsny’s successful performance, both in the King’s Cup match and during the Spanish Super Cup – played in Saudi Arabia. Pena also “disgraced” the Barcelona coach by being late for the pre-match meeting. As a result, the Pole played in the semi-final and final – until receiving a red card for a foul.
Flick spoke, among others: regarding the Pole during Tuesday’s (i.e. January 14) press conference. Has the German coach lost confidence in his player after weakening the team in the final battle with Real?
– Honestly, a lot has changed for me. Wojciech performed very well. He came back after a break from football, trained with us and gave his all. You can see that he has an amazing mentality. He is very helpful to the entire team, including the other goalkeepers. It’s good to see that, just as it’s good to see that he can play at such a high level – admitted Flick, quoted by TVP Sport.
