Fantastic form of Polish women at the Olympics. Great news from the Olympic route!

Kamil Żuk

Kamila Żuk finished the 7.5 km sprint in the top 10 during the biathlon competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics. This was not the only good performance of the Polish women on Saturday.

It must be admitted that the biathlete from Wałbrzych was one step away from a great result, maybe even a medal. During the competition, which consisted of two visits to the shooting range, the Pole made one mistake.

WIN 2026: Kamila Żuk in the top ten of the games! Great news from biathlon

And it was extremely important in the context of the fight for the Olympic podium. However, Żuk eventually made it to the top ten in the sprint. Joanna Jakiła also did quite well. The second best Polish woman took 28th place.

Other Polish representatives? Natalia Sidorowicz 41., Anna Mąka 48.

The Norwegian Maren Kirkeeide won sensationally.

Importantly, Żuk was in the points position in the context of the Winter Olympics competition. The Wałbrzych competitor also has a chance in the context of Sunday’s pursuit race. Biathletes will start according to the positions taken during Saturday’s sprint. Żuk will be just over a minute (+1.09) behind Kirkeeide.

The eighth place of the athlete from Wałbrzych is the second best result in the history of Polish women’s starts in this competition. In 2014 (ZIO in Sochi), Weronika Nowakowska finished the competition in 7th place.

2026 Games in Italy. Where and when to watch the Poles’ starts?

The Polish national team during the opening games consists of 60 athletes. In the 21st century, there has never been a time when a Polish woman or a Pole was not on the Olympic podium during the Winter Olympics. During the last winter games, Poland finished the competition with one medal. The bronze medal was won by ski jumper Dawid Kubacki in the normal hill competition.

It is already known that Kubacki’s result was beaten at the Winter Olympics 2026 by a debutant among Olympians – Kacper Tomasiak. The 19-year-old enormous talent won the silver medal in the normal hill competition in Predazzo.

Another Olympic runner-up, Vladimir Semirunni, who made his debut at the Winter Olympics, was also runner-up in the 10 km speed skating race.

In the history of the Olympic Games, the Polish team has won a total of 25 medals – seven gold, nine silver and nine bronze, respectively. Interestingly, the first bronze medal for Poland was won by Franciszek Gąsienica-Groń (Nordic combined) almost exactly 70 years ago, during the Olympic Games in… Cortina d’Ampezzo. This year, history has come full circle in a beautiful Italian-Polish Olympic circle.
