Fans attack on Donald Tusk. Shocking pictures during the Lithuania-Poland match
Prime Minister Donald Tusk, as announced, appeared at the 2026 World Cup qualifying match in Kaunas. Fans of the Polish national team treated the Polish Prime Minister harshly.
Even before the meeting, information appeared that, according to what we wrote, Prime Minister Donald Tusk accepted the invitation to the match in Vilnius. The Polish Prime Minister received the invitation from his Lithuanian counterpart. The head of the Polish government, invited by Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene, received a lot of “kindness” from the fans.
Donald Tusk insulted by fans in Kaunas. Banners and slogans in the stands
It is no secret that, looking at the fan mood, President Karol Nawrocki is much closer to this environment. It could therefore be expected that in the event of Prime Minister Tusk’s visit, people in the red and white sector could make a loud statement by presenting their views. It must be admitted, in a way… below criticism.
Prime Minister Tusk not only listened, but also banners appeared in the stands.
Interestingly, just before the match, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that the Polish Prime Minister appeared at the match accompanied by specially invited Polish children from Vilnius. A positive message that is certainly not a bad thing, quite the opposite.
As it turns out, however, this positive message is of no interest to those who decided to use the stadium stand for completely different purposes. It seems typically political, which is also visible in the reactions of representatives of the political scene, for example via social media.
Rescue from Jan Urban? PZPN with direction after the Michał Probierz era
It is worth recalling that coach Michał Probierz started the qualifying rounds for next year’s World Championships as a coach. The Polish coach remained in his position after last year’s European Championships, where the team failed to advance from the group. The Poles recorded only one point, although in a clash with the world vice-champions, the French (1:1).
Ultimately, however, as the following months showed, they highlighted the Poles’ mediocre play and on-pitch conflicts. For example, the most famous coach with Robert Lewandowski, deprived of the captain’s armband and… resigning from playing in the national team as long as Probierz is the coach. Additionally, the Poles lost a very important away game against Finland (1:2), complicating their situation in the World Cup qualifying group.
After the unsuccessful international break in June, the Polish Football Association left Probierz in his position, but the coach, under increasing pressure, decided to resign. He was succeeded by Jan Urban. The former Polish representative, most recently the coach of Górnik Zabrze, had a very successful start to his career, in September drawing on a difficult terrain in Rotterdam with the Netherlands (1:1), and then winning against Finland (3:1) in Chorzów. The atmosphere around the team cleared up significantly, and the aforementioned Lewandowski returned to the team, regaining the captain’s armband.
