As far as I know, the airport itself was also damaged, he pointed out.
A journalist from Poland about the situation in the UAE: Explosions can be heard all the time
Samulski is staying in a hotel located near the airport. – It’s relatively calm at the moment. It was definitely a lot more hectic at night. We received information to go to the shelter. We went to the lower parking lot of the hotel and waited there – he informed on Sunday (March 1) morning.
The area is not safe. “We hear explosions all the time,” he said. They may be “related to the fact that the local defense system of the Arab Emirates shoots down drones, missiles and most likely also one plane,” he explained. And although he “did not see the missile hit the drone himself,” he admitted that “streaks that appear after such events can be seen in the sky.”
Włodarczyk is located in Doha (Doha). The host of “Fakty po Faktach” – Piotr Kraśko – asked the three-time Olympic champion if she was safe at the moment. She admitted that yes, but the situation of people staying in Qatar is difficult. – We follow the information on an ongoing basis. (…) We should be glad that since the last – morning – explosion (…) there has been silence, but we hear that an attack may occur at any time – she said.
Anita Włodarczyk: We are practically in hotel rooms all the time
She emphasized on TVN24 that Saturday was “terrible”. – I ate breakfast, went to training – there was no indication that anything would happen. (…) Although there was talk about it (a possible attack – editor’s note), there was no information that something might happen here soon. (…) I received the first alert only in the afternoon – that I should “go home”, “hide” and “not be outside”. Less than half an hour passed and we heard two shots. That was the moment when we left the training and since then we have been staying in hotel rooms almost all the time, she noted.
Włodarczyk admitted that the athletes “heard explosions” but “did not know where” the explosion occurred. – We looked at the sky to find out what was happening. (…) It was a terrible sight – she noted. According to her account, she saw people through the window, including: they got out of their cars to look up.
It appears to have stopped at the time of the attack in Qatar and the UAE.
