“Under the fence we noticed a very large object – a tank wrapped in foil with a protruding piece of tube. He was quite large, he was about one and a half meters. ”

The company’s employees associated this event with flashes observed that night in the sky, which could be associated with the remains of the Falcon 9 rocket. However, the monitoring recordings did not show “any light effect”, but only the moment when the object shattered against the ground near the wholesalers. .

Firefighters and the police were called in. The find was also informed about Polish Space Agency.

Currently, firefighters work on site who are to exclude any secondary threats.

The rocket was fired on February 1, 2025 from the Air Force base Vandenberg in California and took 22 satellites to the orbit Starlink from group 11-4.

Wójcicki explained that the second degree of Falcon 9 rocket is responsible for placing the load on the target orbit, after which he usually undergoes controlled deorbitation over sea areas. This time, however, deorbitation occurred over Europe, which caused the rocket to be visible over Poland.

Possible origin of the object

According to Wójcicki, the object found in bailiffs can be a composite pressure tank (COPV) from the Falcon 9 rocket. A similar incident took place on April 2, 2021, when a COPV reservoir from Falcon 9 rocket fell on a farm in Washington.

COPV tanks in Falcon 9 rockets are used to store helium under high pressure, which is used to maintain adequate pressure in fuel tanks during engine operation. Hel prevents tanks and ensures a constant fuel flow.

Due to their design and materials from which they are made, these tanks can survive the atmosphere and fall to the surface of the earth.
