Fake warehouse in Poland. Secured goods worth PLN 20 million
Fakes, shoes and perfumes were secured in the warehouse in Wólka Kosowska. The value of the goods was estimated at over PLN 20 million.
Officers of the National Tax Administration carried out an inspection in one of the magazines located in Wólka Kosowska. Their actions led to the security of over 166,000 pieces of goods, including clothes, footwear, perfumes and accessories marked with forged trademarks of famous brands. According to aspirant Justyna Pasieczyńska, spokeswoman for the head of Kas, 40 bags and cardboard boxes containing thousands of counterfeit tags and patches were revealed.
Secured fakes
The secured goods were assessed by representatives of companies with trademarks. The value of illegal products was estimated at over PLN 20 million. Further proceedings in this case are conducted by the Podlasie Customs and Tax Office in Bialystok.
The control was conducted by officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Podlasie Voivodship. A hall was searched near the shopping center in Wólka Kosowska, located in the Piaseczno poviat. Two men in the warehouse were questioned on the spot.
False signs
Goods with false trademarks not only violate intellectual property rights, but can also pose a health threat. KAS spokeswoman emphasizes that products such as cosmetics or medicines are often created from unknown substances and do not meet applicable standards. The examples also include toys containing unauthorized concentrations of phthalates.
Under the applicable law, the placing on the market of goods marked with counterfeit trademarks is a crime punishable by up to five years imprisonment. The National Tax Administration reminds that these activities are aimed not only at fighting economic crime, but also to protect consumers and support honest companies on the market.
