Execution of Iga Świątek in Paris. The rival looked on in disbelief

Before the match started, there was only one favorite. Iga Świątek on the tennis courts. Roland Garros feels exceptionally good, it is no accident that she was called the Queen of Paris. Additionally, just before she started playing in Paris, the Pole showed her good side during the tournament in Rome. The fact that she regained her joy in the game had a positive effect on the future at RG 2026.

Roland Garros: Impressive start by Iga Świątek. The rival was powerless

Emerson Jones was waiting on the other side of the net in the first round. The Australian is ranked the highest among tennis players under the age of 18 in the WTA world ranking. Jones shines in junior tennis, but the senior version, especially when facing the strongest competitors, is a completely different reality.

Jones passed the maturity exam – in the case of clay courts – the most difficult possible. Świątek under the baton of the new coach Francisco Roig, with consultation from Rafa Nadal, plus on “his” ground in Paris.

It must be admitted, however, that Jones – although she did not win a single game on her serve in the first set – in the second set, she controlled her emotions somewhat and was able to score something more. Świątek, tournament number 3, won very confidently 6:1, 6:2. It was a typical tennis execution. There may certainly be more talk about Jones, considering her talent and expert ratings, but for now Świątek is a few shelves above the Australian.

It is worth adding that Świątek thus joined three Polish women in singles who also started RG 2026. With victories. On Sunday (i.e. May 24) it was Magda Linette and Magdalena Fręch, and on Monday it was Maja Chwalińska.

Iga Świątek and all her championship titles

In her career so far, the Pole has won a total of 25 championship titles on courts almost all over the world.

Świątek won six Grand Slam titles, four times at Roland Garros (2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024), once at the US Open (2022) and Wimbledon (2025). To this should be added the prestigious triumph in the WTA Finals (2023).

In addition, wins in WTA 1000 tournaments in: Rome (2021, 2022, 2024), Doha (2022 and 2024), Indian Wells (2022 and 2024), Miami (2022), Beijing (2023), Madrid (2024) and Cincinnati (2025).

The list also includes WTA 500 competitions: Adelaide (2021), Stuttgart (2022 and 2023), San Diego (2022), Doha (2023) and Seoul (2025).

Plus a Polish tournament accent, WTA 250 in Warsaw (2023).

As for Polish topics, it is impossible not to emphasize the bronze medal of the Olympic Games in the singles competition in Paris (2024). Świątek also won the Polish national team in the United Cup in Sydney (2026).
