Fogo Unia Leszno’s bad luck continues. Damian Ratajczak will not be playing in Sunday’s match against ZOOLeszcz GKM Grudziądz. This may reduce the chances of winning three points.
There is no need to convince anyone that the situation of Fogo Unia Leszno in the PGE Ekstraliga table is bad. The eighteen-time Polish team champions won five points and are in last place in the league table. They are three points behind ZOOLeszcz GKM Grudziądz, with whom they will face next Sunday at home. The Bulls need a victory by at least 20 points to collect not only two match points, but also a bonus. However, once again, the Leszno team will not approach the PGE Ekstraliga clash with their strongest line-up.
Damian Ratajczak with another injury
In May, Damian Ratajczak suffered a broken thigh during a Danish league match, but was surprisingly able to return to speedway quickly. He did a lot of work during his recovery and was back on the track by the end of June. The club recently announced that the 19-year-old would start in Tuesday’s U-24 Ekstraliga match against Apator Toruń. The coaching staff and the player probably wanted this to be a warm-up before the match with the Grudziądz team. Meanwhile, it all ended with another injury.
Ratajczak fell in his third race and injured his knee. It seems likely that he will not play in the “match of life”. All the fans were waiting for his return, but in the meantime, nothing will come of it.
“Our player suffered an accident during today’s match in the U24 Ekstraliga. After preliminary tests, a knee contusion was found, which unfortunately means another break in starts,” we read on Unia Leszno’s social media.
In Leszno they are counting on a second miracle
After losing in Zielona Góra, Unia realizes that they must win as much as possible on their own track to stay in the game, and three points in the competition with GKM seem essential for this. However, it will be difficult to win with this rival by such a high score to collect the bonus, but the Leszno team showed in the clash with Apator that they are able to defeat the opponent with a deficit of over 20 points. The Unia – GKM match will start on Sunday at 19:15.
