A man shouting “Allah Akbar” caused a lot of commotion at the Barcelona airport. – Everyone ran to the wall. They were kneeling, said a Pole present at the scene.
The incident occurred on July 20 around 19.30 at the airport located in El Prat in Barcelona. One of the tourists present at the airport caused panic among travelers after he ran near Terminal 2 with a backpack and shouted. “Allahu Akbar”. This behavior raised concerns at the airport about a possible bomb attack.
Attempted attack at Barcelona airport? A 23-year-old man was arrested
According to media findings, the man was detained by airport security and then handed over to the police. According to unofficial reports, it was a 23-year-old citizen of Honduras. Investigators were to rule out his connections with terrorist organizations. However, the man will be charged with disturbing public order, the newspaper reported “The Mirror”.

According to his story, the tourists heard a noise suggesting that someone had hit something, and then a slogan “Allahu Akbar”. Then people sitting in the terminal started looking around to see what was happening. Then a man with a backpack allegedly ran to the place where airport employees check tickets and then direct passengers to the plane.
“He fell over, got up and started screaming again. People who were sitting nearby got up and started running away, the Internet user reported. More people were about to start running behind them, ramming each other. According to the man’s story, the terminal in this place was in the shape of a semicircle, so there was nowhere to escape.
– Everyone ran to the wall, knelt, man on man (…). One looked at the other to see what was happening, because not everyone knew, said the Internet user. He then noted that some people had, among others, headphones on and didn’t know what happened earlier.
– Because everyone started running away, everyone ran to the wall at the same time. Some people were lying under chairs. I don’t know if I’ve ever experienced such emotions, such fear. People were shocked because first there was a scream as they were running away, and when everyone was sitting against the wall there was total silence, he said.
People were also shaking, crying and calling their loved ones.
– Fortunately, after a while, when everyone reached the wall, that person was caught by security guards. They knocked him to the ground, cuffed him and put him against the wall. He was saying something to himself all the time. People started getting up and returning to their seats (…). It was one of the worst moments that happened to me, because (…) you have the feeling that this could be the end, because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. My hands were shaking for the next 20 minutes, he said.
The man also added that no one was hurt, and the plane he was returning to Warsaw was delayed by about an hour.
