“Electricians” in the government. This ministry has the most of them
Every fourth vehicle belonging to the fleet of the Ministry of Climate and Environment is an “electric” – according to data provided to “Wprost” by the ministry. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the most electric cars, but its fleet is much larger.
Polish drivers are still cautious about electric cars. They constitute only a few percent of total new car sales in Poland and we are behind the EU countries in this respect. Data from the Polish Automotive Industry Association (PZPM) and the Polish New Mobility Association (PSNM) show that at the end of July, there were 70,579 passenger and commercial electric vehicles on Polish roads. In the period January – July 2024, the number of such vehicles increased by 14,102 cars, which means an increase of 6%. compared to the same period last year.
The development of electromobility is one of the areas of activity of the Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiŚ). The head of the ministry, Paulina Henning-Kloska, recently speaking about the barriers in this area, pointed primarily to the “lack of charging stations”. The Minister assured that this infrastructure will be supplemented, both in terms of truck and public transport, as well as the development of charging stations for passenger cars.
– Without this, there is really no way to travel by electric car in the long term, so we are fully aware that we need to accelerate the construction of infrastructure – said Henning-Kloska.
“Electricians” in the government. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the leader
We decided to check what the situation is in this respect in the ministry itself. It turns out that “electrics” constitute one quarter of the fleet.
– In the Ministry of Climate and Environment, as of November 13, 2024, the shares of vehicles in the fleet are: 23.5%. -electric cars, 59 percent – hybrid cars – the Media Communication Department of the Ministry of Climate and Environment reported to “Wprost”.
According to the data provided by the ministry to “Rzeczpospolita” a few months ago, the ministry has four electric vehicles out of 17 cars. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has much more, 11 such cars, but the ministry headed by Radosław Sikorski has a much larger fleet (58 cars). There are many ministries whose fleets do not have electric cars at all. This concerns the Ministry of National Defense, as well as the ministries of justice and digitalization.
Let us recall that the Act on Electromobility and Alternative Fuels of 2018 included a 20% target. share of electric vehicles in the fleets of central offices from January 1, 2023. It was repealed by the amendment to the Act.
