Egyptian guides will be even better to take care of the needs of tourists. The Ministry of Tourism and Ancient times introduces a new program.

Egyptian guides must be even better qualified. The Ministry of Tourism and Ancient times introduces a new program, whose task is to prepare language for work in tourism. From now on, licensed guides will perform special tests confirming their skills. “Key certificates are aimed at providing Egyptian tool guides that will help the growing number of foreign tourists in enjoying their stay in the country,” we read.

Guides in Egypt not only with compulsory English

English or Russian languages are almost the basis for working in tourism in Egypt. However, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities wants licensed guides to be able to meet the expectations of those tourists who do not use any of the listed. Languages such as Portuguese, Turkish, Japanese, Czech, Indonesian, Korean, Greek, Romanian and Hungarian are relatively poorly represented in the industry, and extremely needed. “These are rising markets for Egyptian tourism, and the possession of certified guides fluent in these languages guarantees that Egypt can meet the expectations of tourists from various cultural environments,” reads the Travel and Tour World blog.

Recruitment for language tests started on Monday and will last until the end of July. “In the first round of calling for applications, the Ministry of Tourism announced the receipt of 225 applications from licensed guides, of which 58 candidates successfully passed the exam,” we read.

Training for guides has started

The ministry focuses not only on language tests for current guides, but also training for candidates who dream of working in tourism. This program is addressed to people with appropriate academic qualifications and aims to prepare them for work in the industry. In the first half of this year, three hundred people were completed.

Egypt wants to attract more and more visitors from different cultural environments. The goal is to accept 30 million foreign tourists annually by 2028.
