Earthquake in the football Ekstraklasa. The giant changed the coach!
Raków Częstochowa officially announced who will be the team’s new coach. Dawid Kroczek is expected to play this role at Jasna Góra.
Let us remind you that on Sunday evening (i.e. May 3), the current coach of Raków Częstochowa – Łukasz Tomczyk – was unexpectedly dismissed. The day before, the Częstochowa team lost the Polish Cup final at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw – to Górnik Zabrze (0:2).
Tomczyk’s successor will be Dawid Kroczek. The announcement on this matter was published on Monday morning (i.e. May 4).
“Our new coach is a UEFA Pro license holder. Before the current season, he joined Raków as an assistant to Marek Papszun, and from the beginning of the year he supported the sports department in the field of scouting. His CV includes work in Cracovia, as well as in the training staffs of Unia Skierniewice, Resovia and Sokół Aleksandrów Łódzki. Coach, we wish you good luck!” – we read in the entry from Raków.
Raków Częstochowa has a new coach! Earthquake in the Ekstraklasa
It seemed that the decision to employ Łukasz Tomczyk – instead of Marek Papszun – was mature and well-thought-out, not only in the context of the current season, but in the context of the following years. The former trainer of the club from Częstochowa knows the club from the inside, having worked for several years near Jasna Góra. His return, after a great period of work in the first league Polonia Bytom, was supposed to be a big opportunity, which Tomczyk had to cope with.
It seems that the patience of the club’s owner, Michał Świerczewski, has come to an end. Raków was eliminated from the European cups this spring, and also lost the Polish Cup final, and in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table there is no chance of winning the national championship. The only consolation is the fight for the number 2 position, which gives us a chance to play in the Champions League qualifiers.
Therefore, there is something to play for, and coach Kroczek is clearly expected to be a positive stimulus in the last straight of the season, which will be rather average weeks under Tomczyk’s leadership.
