E-invoices on the farm? Farmers beat the alarm

The new regulations oblige farmers to use e-invoices. Digitization will also cover the village, despite the protests of agricultural chambers.

From 2026, all farmers settling with VAT will cover the obligation to issue invoices only in electronic form, through the National E-Faktur system (KSEF). This is an element of the digitization of the tax system, which will also affect farms, both those run by active VAT taxpayers and flat -rate farmers.

A new obligation for farmers

A new obligation will be introduced in stages. From February 1, 2026, entrepreneurs will be covered by entrepreneurs whose gross sales in 2025 exceeded PLN 200 million. Other taxpayers, including farmers, will have to use the KSEF from April 1, 2026.

For those who may have difficulties in implementing the system, a transitional period has been provided. By the end of September 2026, it will be possible to issue invoices in paper or electronic version instead of e-invoices. In addition, all taxpayers will be able to use offline until the end of 2026. The Ministry of Finance also plans to postpone the obligation to provide the KSEF number in transfers by July 31, 2026, also for payments made using a divided payment mechanism.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Finance will provide free e-invoices tools in the KSEF system.

Farmers react

The Board of the National Council of Agricultural Chambers referred to the announcement of changes in a letter addressed to the Minister of Agriculture Czesław Siekierski. The agricultural self-government presented a negative opinion in the face of arranging farmers by the duty of e-invoicing. It points to numerous technical and organizational obstacles, especially for smaller farms and older farmers who may have difficulties with Internet access and support for electronic systems.

The President of Krir Wiktor Szmulewicz emphasized that the implementation of KSEF without appropriate simplifications may mean an increase in administrative costs and new difficulties in the daily functioning of the farms. That is why KRiR requests that farmers to be active with active VAT taxpayers, the obligation to use e-invoices.
