Drama during the Tour de Pologne. The latest news has just come

We informed about a dangerous event during the Wednesday stage in a separate text. The competition in the Tour de Pologne took place on the section of Wałbrzych-Wałbrzych, where the start and finish took place in the former voivodship city, but with over 150 km of competition, this is already a typical mountain challenge in Lower Silesia Sudetes.

25 kilometers before the finish line of the third stage of TDP 2025 there was a dangerous accident. The Pole eventually came out quite quickly from problems, and as for the Frenchman, he reached the finish line, but with a huge loss.

– We are in touch with doctors all the time. Two players are very battered. We pray that everything would go well and nothing serious happened to anyone, because one cyclist even lost consciousness. We keep our fingers crossed for them and wish you a recovery (…) The peloton is exposed to various events. Here we had a big crash. We used all the medical forces we had, several ambulances, everything to secure the players who succumbed to the accident. At some point we didn’t have an ambulance that would go on with the race. In this arrangement, the race is neutralized, we stop it to wait for the ambulance that will join – explained the reasons for the interruption of the race General Director of TDP Czesław Lang.

Unfortunately, the vice -leader of the Filippo Baroncini race suffered a lot during the accident. According to his UAE Emirates team, the Italian “suffered numerous facial injuries, has a cracked cervical vertebra (without neurological effects) and numerous fractures of the facial bones and collarbone. He is currently in the hospital under the care of doctors.”

So, as you can see, the krake ended with a drama for an Italian cyclist.

On Thursday, stage 4 is planned. This time the competition will take place on the route from Rybnik to Cieszyn. Exactly 201.4 km will be to travel.

Tour de Pologne – a unique race with almost a hundred years of history!

In 2025, the 82nd edition of the Tour de Pologne takes place. “The 1st cycling race around Poland” (the first and original name TDP) was played on September 7-16, 1928. As you can see, there will be a calendar place of the centenary of the cycling race soon.

Calendar, because not every year – if only because of the later war period – the rivalry of cyclists took place. Since 1993, after the takeover of the organization by the Lang Team, i.e. led by Czesław Lang, Tour de Pologne is a fully professional race. Since 2011, he belongs to the most prestigious UCI World Tour cycle.

Last year, Danish Jonas Vingegaard was the winner. Looking at Polish successes, the fans have been waiting for the Pole’s winning in the general classification of TDP since 2018. Then Michał Kwiatkowski reached for the triumph. Four years earlier (i.e. 2014), Rafał Majka was the winner of Tour de Pologne. In the 21st century, only one more Polish representative reached after this type of triumph. In 2003 it was Cezary Zamana.
