Agata Wróbel’s difficult situation met with response from the state. Even Prime Minister Donald Tusk himself got involved in helping the Olympic medalist.
We informed about the story of the outstanding former weightlifter in Thursday’s text, pointing to the help offered by the Polish Weightlifting Association. Agata Wróbel has been in a very difficult life situation for several years. The two-time Olympic medalist revealed in mid-December 2024 that she had lost her eyesight.
Minister Sławomir Nitras on Donald Tusk’s support
In its social media entry, PZPC attacked the most important institutions that could support Wróbel – looking at the sports realities. We did not have to wait long for the reaction of Minister Sławomir Nitras, head of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
The Civic Coalition politician admitted that Prime Minister Donald Tusk got involved in the case of the distinguished Olympian. Wróbel received lifelong support from him.
“Today, Prime Minister Donald Tusk granted a special lifetime pension of PLN 5,000. PLN per month to our Olympic medalist, Mrs. Agata Wróbel. The employees of the University Hospital in Krakow will take care of Mrs. Agata’s health. Thank you to everyone who helped in this matter,” wrote Minister Nitras on X.

Not only the Prime Minister or the Ministry of Sport and Tourism reacted to the situation of the former weightlifter. Wróbel will go to one of the best hospitals in Krakow. The Ministry of Health contributed to this decision, which also deserves recognition.
“Improving the living and material situation is the next challenge and is the next stage of help for this athlete who has made a huge contribution to Polish sport. In a few dozen hours, Ms. Agata Wróbel will be a patient of one of the best hospitals in Krakow, a facility with excellent clinical departments, under the care of the best specialists (…) With the significant support of the Ministry of Health, for which we are very grateful, we managed to secure a place for Ms. Agata Wróbel in one of the the best medical facilities in our country and, most importantly, close to the athlete’s place of residence. Mrs. Agata, we are waiting for you! You are an icon of Polish sport!” – said Marek Kaczmarczyk, spokesman for the Polish Weightlifting Association.
Agata Wróbel will only be 44 years old in August 2025. It seems that with such support, the former athlete can slowly put her life back together.
