After the success of the Deepseek artificial intelligence model, Washington considers its ban in the United States and limits China’s access to advanced NVIDIA integrated circuits.
Growing tensions around artificial intelligence
The administration of former President Donald Trump plans to tighten the policy towards Chinese technology companies. The artificial intelligence of Deepseek – an advanced model that gained publicity at the beginning of 2025 thanks to the results exceeding the products of such giants as Opeli or Meta. According to information published by The New York Times, work is underway to introduce a ban on using Deepseek in the USA.
No NVIDIA integrated circuits for China
As part of the strategy to maintain technological dominance over China, the United States has taken steps to limit the sale of NVIDIA integrated circuits. Particular attention was paid to the H20 AI model, which – according to the analyzes – could be used by Chinese Deepseek creators. The Commission of the Chamber of Representatives for China issued an official query to Nvidia, demanding information on the export of components to the Middle Kingdom and Southeast Asia.
Chinese technological advantage with a threat to the USA
American analysts estimate that Chinese engineers could use at least 60,000 NVIDIA accelerators – some of them specially designed for the Chinese market. As a result of export restrictions, NVIDIA announced a loss of $ 5.5 billion. Despite this, the White House considers these activities necessary to stop the development of competitive solutions from China.
Deepseek, Tiktok and New Geopolitical realities
The increase in the importance of Chinese applications and technology is increasingly concerned about the American authorities. The decision on a possible prohibition of Deepseek took place only two months after Google and Apple restored Tiktok to their application stores, despite earlier reservations regarding national security.
