Do you want a widow pension after each deceased spouse? The recipes are clear

At the beginning of this year, the provisions regarding the widow’s pension entered into force. It is a combination of a survivor’s pension with another benefit, e.g. with a pension or a disability pension.

Until now, the widowed person had to decide whether he was collecting his retirement or survivor after the deceased spouse (it was a maximum of 85 percent of the deceased’s benefit). As a result of changes, you can choose 100 percent for payment. survivors’ pensions and 15 percent own benefits, or 100 percent own benefits and 15 percent survivors’ pension.

Double widow pension possible?

There are questions whether people who have become widows/widowers for the second time can apply for two widow pensions? The regulations are clear. You can only receive one widow’s pension – a coincidence of your pension and survivor’s pension after the last spouse. It is not possible to add benefits after earlier spouses who also died.

As “Fakt” notes, it is also not possible to choose from which the deceased spouse wants to receive a widow’s pension. The benefit can be taken only after the last spouse.

One of the key conditions for obtaining a widow is married. Other conditions are:

• reaching retirement age – at least 60 years for women and 65 years for men,

• will remain in marital community until the day of the spouse’s death, joint householding,

• Acquiring the right to a survivor’s pension not earlier than 5 years before reaching the retirement age – a woman may apply for a pension if she became a widow not earlier than at the age of 55, and a man, if she became a widow not earlier than at the age of 60.

The call for applications for a disability widow started on January 1 this year. Until now, over 300,000 have been received forms. The first payments of the benefit are expected in July.
