Disastrous news for Polish ski jumping. Few people noticed this fact

Kacper Tomasiak, Kamil Stoch i Dawid Kubacki

March is the month ending the next season of the Ski Jumping World Cup. Unfortunately, the summaries of the performances of Polish representatives do not fill us with optimism.

Paradoxically, looking towards the target event, which was Winter Olympics 2026, the Polish team should be satisfied. The case of Kacper Tomasiak is especially unique here. A debutant in the World Cup, similarly to the Olympic competition, the boy, who was only 19, stood on the Olympic podium three times.

What’s more, he did it once in a duet competition – together with Paweł Wąsek.

A deep crisis for ski jumpers in the World Cup. Disastrous results for Poles!

If it’s so good, why is it so bad? Excluding the Olympic competition on the ski jumping hill in Predazzo from the 2025/26 season, the statistics are definitely not on the side of coach Maciej Maciusiak’s team. It seems that if the results for the Winter Olympics 2026 had not appeared, the president of the Polish Ski Association, Adam Małysz, might have wondered about the future of the team in this shape.

Adam Bucholz presented the alarming statistics in a graphic way. A reliable expert in the field of ski jumping, associated with the editorial office of skijumping.pl. As it turns out, the average point score of Polish representatives is the worst since the 2008/09 season. There are still four competitions left to play, but the average score of 36.38 points is certainly not a reason to be satisfied.

This is hardly surprising, since a few days ago exactly three years have passed since the last World Cup triumph of a Polish ski jumper. It was Dawid Kubacki during the competition in Lillehammer. The Pole’s success was achieved on March 16, 2023.

The Polish national team scored a total of only 946 points in the 2025/26 season. The leader in this respect among Poles is Kacper Tomasiak – the author of 391 points. The achievements of all Poles in the general classification of the World Cup would not even be enough for… a place in the top five. Philipp Raimund takes fifth place in the World Cup. The German managed to accumulate 948 points.

The second best scorer among Poles is Kamil Stoch – author of 185 points. Piotr Żyła also reached the Polish podium this season – 160 points. The remaining Polish representatives… did not even break the barrier of 100 points scored in the current campaign.

It seems that coach Maciusiak – despite his Olympic success – has something to think about in the context of the future…
