Disaster in the last jump at the World Championships. Devastating statistics for the Polish national team

The Polish national team took sixth place in the team competition during the World Cup in Trondheim. Polish jumpers fell out of the top five for the first time since 2007.
Coach Thomas Thurnbichler delegated the Polish national team to the Thursday team competition: Aleksander Znamczoł, Jakub Wolny, Paweł Wąsek and Dawid Kubacki. Among the five appointed, there was a two -time world champion (2021 and 2023) by Piotr Żyła. “Squirrel” is not in Trondheim in the highest form.
The fifth place of the Polish national team in the team competition
Before starting the fight in the team edition, you could not be particularly optimistic or set. Poles in Trondheim did not present a special flash, and the competition probably also had a snore for good results.
Historically, Poles since 2007, when the World Championships were played in the Japanese Sapporo, did not fall below the fifth place in team competition. Until the last jump of the second series, it seemed that this time it would be successful, because Poland was in five. Ultimately, however, it turned out that Ryoyu Kobayashi’s attempt at a distance of up to 136.5 meters closed the team of coach Thurnbichler hopes for a place in the five.
How did Poles look like? The least Aleksander Znoczczoł, opening four of the Polish team – 116 and 125.5 meters. Jakub Wolny passed 121 and 124 meters. The team’s leader was Paweł Wąsek, twice landing at an identical distance of 131 meters. The last of the Poles, the most experienced Dawid Kubacki, recorded 127.5 meters and 124.5 m. The latter attempt turned out to be binding in the context of a direct clash with the Japanese. The Poles failed to defend the position they fought for during the final series. And this certainly cannot be denied Polish representatives.
Statistics and the interrupted series, however, went, unfortunately for Poles, into the world. A place except five is probably not a satisfying result. But perhaps, for today, real – looking at the balance of power in global ski jumping.
Gold for Slovenia, which defended the title of World Championships from 2023. Silver for Austrians, bronze for Norway.
