Digital tax is getting closer. Gawkowski: “We know who we’re going to for money”
Digital tax is to bring billions of zlotys to the budget. “This is the answer to digital colonialism,” says Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski.
Work on the Act on digital tax is carried out at the Ministry of Digitization and this year is expected to consult. Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski announces that the tax will not burden Polish companies, but foreign digital platforms. At the same time, the government is also preparing an amendment to the Act on the national cyber security system.
Tax as a response to “digital colonialism”
The minister of digitization in Tuesday’s conversation with Dziennik Gazeta Prawna emphasized that the work on the project is advanced. “The prime minister gave me green light to work on it,” said Gawkowski, adding that his ministry would support the Ministry of Finance in building new sources of income for the state.
According to the deputy prime minister, digital tax is a necessary response to global challenges of digital economy.
– I have the feeling that digital tax is the answer to the question of whether we agree to digital colonialism or not – he said.
He also pointed out that the countries that introduced similar solutions a few years ago have already gained an additional EUR 20-30 billion.

The department of digitization estimates that in Poland at a rate of 3 percent Digital tax revenues could reach PLN 1.7 billion a year, and at 6 percent. – over PLN 3 billion. The largest loads would be carried by foreign platforms operating in the e-commerce sector.
– For companies paying Polish CIT there will be deductions and reliefs. Thanks to this, Allegro will not pay more, just like other CIT companies in Poland. We know who we go for money and they are not Polish companies – the minister pointed out.
As he pointed out, there were proposals of rates from 3 to even 15 percent.
– At the consultation meeting (August 13 – ed.) There were proposals from 3 percent. up to 15 percent The rates will still be analyzed. For me, these 3 percent This is a good output field – said the head of the department of digitization.
Amendment to the Cybersecurity Act
In addition to digital tax, work is underway on the amendment to the Act on the National Cyber security system (KSC).
– I believe that in August KSC will go to a government meeting – declared Gawkowski.
He explained that the project raises controversy related to the need to replace equipment from high -risk suppliers, but this process is to be distributed to years.
– Together with Vacatio Legis and sometimes to carry out the procedure, it will be a matter of 2032–2033 – he emphasized.
The minister also added that the government is working on implementing an EU digital act (DSA), which will introduce new rules regarding content on the Internet. After public consultations, corrections were introduced to avoid allegations of censorship.
