There will be disruptions on popular PKP Intercity routes during holidays. Trains will not run on these sections.
During the holiday season, it will not be possible to travel everywhere by train. PKP Intercity informed passengers about the planned difficulties. From December 15, 2024 to January 26, 2025, only replacement buses will run instead of trains on some sections. The reason is the extended modernization works carried out by the carrier. The upcoming changes concern popular routes to winter and ski resorts such as Zakopane and Kudowa-Zdrój.
Christmas travel with PKP
The largest Polish railway carrier is preparing for increased holiday traffic. PKP Intercity, similarly to the long weekends in November, launched more connections and made over 600 additional wagons available to travelers. “In addition, throughout the Christmas and New Year period, train attendance will be analyzed on an ongoing basis and, if necessary and technically possible, the carrier will try to increase the number of seats in trains,” says the company’s press office. Unfortunately, as a result of the prolonged modernization of some routes, unwanted difficulties also appeared.
The train will not reach these places
“We would like to inform you that from December 15, 2024 to January 10, 2025 (for the Śnieżka train until January 26, 2025), due to extended modernization works carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, replacement bus transport will be introduced on the following sections of train routes,” we read on the carrier’s website. This includes: o the “Podhalanin” and “Halny” trains to Zakopane. Passengers traveling to the capital of the Polish Tatra Mountains from Szczecin and Poznań will have to change to a bus on the Bielsko-Biała Główna – Kalwaria Zebrzydowska Lanckorona section. Abandoning the train will also happen to those traveling to Kudowa-Zdrój. Passengers will leave the Śnieżka train in Kłodzko, where a bus will be waiting for them. Fortunately, information officers will be available at the largest stations in Poland who will help passengers with travel problems on an ongoing basis.
