Difficulties for passengers in Warsaw. It’s not just about trains

Metro w Warszawie

Some difficulties in Warsaw are not over yet, and we will already feel the next ones. This time it’s not about a holiday or trains. You have to forget about using ten metro stations.

Anyone who often uses public transport when living or working in Warsaw knows how important an efficient and fast-moving metro is. Thanks to it, you can easily avoid traffic jams and move even from one end of the city to the other. Now passengers will have problems. 10 stations remain closed until Sunday

Difficulties in Warsaw

Problems occur from Thursday evening, November 13. Some metro stations on the M1 line have been closed for renovation – work is underway to replace traffic control devices and energy supply systems.

On selected sections, passengers must change to alternative transport, more specifically to buses and trams. These run every day from early morning until 2.30 am. The current solution will significantly extend the travel time, so it is worth being patient and taking into account the changes if you regularly travel on closed sections.

The renovation of metro stations in Warsaw is intended to make travel safer. The city authorities’ announcements show that the works will increase the reliability of the M1 line and are necessary.

This is how the metro runs now

The M1 metro does not run on the Wilanowska – Słodowiec section. Passengers can still use it on two sections: Młociny – Słodowiec and Kabaty – Wilanowska. The disruptions will last until the end of Sunday, November 16.

During the day, ZM1 buses run approximately every 3 minutes (on Sundays approximately every 4 minutes, and in the evenings every 5-7.5 minutes) from the Wilanowska Metro stop at Aleja Niepodległości along the M1 route to the terminus at the Słodowiec station. They stop at stops near the metro stations: Wierzbno, Racławicka, Pole Mokotowskie, Politechnika, Centrum, Świętokrzyska, Ratusz Arsenał, Dworzec Gdański, Plac Wilsona, Marymont.

You can also count on the route of tram line 61. These depart from the Race loop along the streets: Puławska, Marszałkowska, Andersa, Mickiewicza, Słowackiego, Marymoncka and then through the Maria Skłodowska-Curie bridge to the Winnica loop.

There is also a second tram line number 76. It will depart from Miasteczko Wilanów to the center, then along the following streets: Marszałkowska, Andersa, Mickiewicza, Słowackiego and Marymoncka and then through the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bridge to the Tarchomin Kościelny terminus.

“ZM1 buses and trams line 61 will also run on the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday (November 14/15 and 15/16) until approximately 2.30, i.e. just like night metro services. The operation of trams line 14 will be suspended,” ZTM said.
